Introduction
Dolly Parton originally penned the song “I Will Always Love You” when she decided to part ways with “The Porter Wagoner Show” to pursue a solo career. However, nearly four decades later, she performed the song again, this time as a heartfelt tribute to her dear friend and fellow country music icon, Kenny Rogers.
Parton and Rogers shared a long-standing friendship, one that was evident through their on-stage chemistry, especially when they performed their famous duet “Islands in the Stream” during the 1980s.
It was Dolly who honored “The Gambler” himself when they reunited on stage, serenading him with one of her earliest hits, “I Will Always Love You.”
As she sang, Rogers, visibly moved, fought back tears, and fans couldn’t help but notice the deep, enduring bond between these two country music legends.
Though Kenny Rogers passed away in March of 2020, Dolly Parton won’t be the only one who will love him forever; his legacy will be cherished by many.

Lyrics
If I should stay
Well I would only be in your way
And so I’ll go, and yet I know
I’ll think of you each step of the way
And I will always love you
I will always love you
Bitter-sweet memories
That’s all I’m taking with me
Good-bye, please don’t cry
‘Cause we both know that I’m not
What you need
But I will always love you
I will always love you
And I hope life, will treat you kind
And I hope that you have all
That you ever dreamed of
Oh I do wish you joy
And I wish you happiness
But above all this
I wish you love
I love you
I will always love you
I, I will always, always love you
I will always love you
I will always love you
I will always love you
